Tony mentioned it at Origins last year, and silly me didn't write it down. Not that I'd want to run a game with dollars instead of wealth -- but I'd like to know how to convert normal prices into in-game wealth.
Another question... if several items are bought in one purchase, do you just add +1 to the total cost for each item after the first (most expensive)? If you buy several items together, chances are, you should get some kind of discount. According to the rules, if the item is less than 15 Wealth and your personal wealth exceeds or is equal to the cost, you can buy an unlimited amount of that item. Now, of course, GM's will set some kind of limits. There is no point in letting you purchase 10,000 TEC-9's just because you can afford one, but odds are, you could afford one for each of your crew. I would start to add Wealth mods for purchases after the 10th one, assuming they are the same item and assuming your PC Wealth score is near the cost.
Items with different prices would be treated like this: Let's say you need to purchase items that cost 2, 7, 12 and 14. Your Wealth is 19. Those items, even collectively, cost 14, so it costs you no WP. Now let's say the items in questions cost 12, 17, 22, 24.
Okay, first, forget the 12 item. You can afford that, so no WP.
You want to calculate the total cost according to one lump sum, so pretend that these are Wealth awards and add them together. If you had 24 Wealth and got 17 Wealth award, that adds nothing to your total. 22 Wealth however, adds 1. This makes your total cost for all the items 25. Now calculate as if you bought just one item. Otherwise, if you do each item seperately, it will cost you 5 WP. A GM may force you to buy all items seperately because you had to purchase them in different places. Mob characters within their own families, that are in good standing, should get some sort of discount, depending on the seller.
Mr. D.
