Regardless though, that is where I fell in love with the Mafia book and I would like to start an online PbP game, but only with your permission of course...

So would the boss of all bosses here have a problem with that?

Well the intent was to start a new site for forum and chat room role-playing for any mafia players out there that might not be able to find/gather interested parties in their area.

A quick way to get a fix.

You could always start a little game in "Family Talk at Morelli's" here. We had fun with some informal, chatty things on the LRG board, so an actual game might go over well once we get a few more people.

One thing I've learned from boards with "story threads": you need to have one thread for stuff that is actually part of the game and a second thread for people to say stuff like "OMG that is so funny!" and the like.

Games in chat rooms could be logged and pasted in too.

Yep! I've got some experience running some PbP games, they're not that hard to run, the reason I wanted to do a site, vs this new fancy forum would the be inclusion of mailing lists or character pics as many chat room players are quite fond of displaying.

Of course, we still need to wait to see what the Mr D says.

I believe phpBB allows subscriptions to threads (not that I remember how to subscribe to a thread or even verify that this feature has been turned on).

As for pictures... well, assuming no nudity, that's what PhotoBucket is for:
